Over the last couple of weeks, the existing roundabout structure has been dismantled. Some demolition works remain and will be carried out by a specialist team to ensure the protection of the buried services beneath the site.
Preparatory work has also taken place for the new drainage system. This has included creating openings in part of the original subway wall to allow surface water to enter the new drainage network. Construction is now underway on the reinforced water chambers, with steel and piping arriving on site this week.
The team has additionally completed a new permanent hardstanding area for maintenance vehicles that will be used once the project is finished.
